I woke up this morning with a hankering (yes, a hankering) for something bright, sweet, tart and refreshing. I started brainstorming fruit combinations and this is where I ended up. This red fruit smoothie is a combination of blood oranges, pomegranate, red grapes and cranberries. Cranberries, why do we forsake thee for 9 months of the year? I live in cranberry land (British Columbia), approximately 12% of North America’s cranberries are grown here. I really should eat them more often. Cranberry season has passed, but you can still buy them frozen.
I’m a January baby. While everyone else is starting cleanses and workout plans; I’m crying because there is no one to eat cake with me. By the time my birthday rolls around mid-month, everyone is deep in Resolution Land. Oh well, I didn’t want to share my cake anyway. So there! This year, instead of making a list of restrictive resolutions, I’ve picked a word to be my 2015 theme. That word is “abundance”.
I can’t say the word “cantaloupe” without getting this song stuck in my head. Now you probably have it stuck in your head, sorry. I had a really fun week making and eating birthday cake and I’m all caked out. The cake was wonderful, if I do say so myself. It was 4 layers of lemon cake with lemon curd and earl grey frosting. If you follow me on instagram, you may have seen it!
