Are you obsessed with The Great British Bake Off? I am! It’s become a nightly ritual to watch an episode or two. It’s further ignited my baking compulsion. Thankfully, the holidays are coming and there will be plenty of opportunities to bake for parties and gifts.
I’ve baked a few wonderful things over the past few weeks and I thought I’d share. All of these recipes feature high-quality, single-origin chocolate. I’m a bit chocolate focused at the moment as I’m working hard on my other site… chocolatecodex.com
Sorry to my readers with dietary restrictions, I love you but these are all conventional recipes with flour, butter, sugar and dairy.
Individual Chocolate Babka Rolls
Those lovely chocolate rolls in the photo above are my attempt at chocolate babka. I used high quality chocolate from The Grenada Chocolate Company. The recipe comes from Smitten Kitchen. You can find the details here…
Chocolate Swirl Buns by Smitten Kitchen
Mine didn’t quite get the rise that her’s did, but they tasted great. If you make them, be sure to include the cinnamon…it is a really nice addition to the flavour.
Chocolate Angel Food Layer Cake
I had a bunch of egg whites kicking around so I decided to make an angel food cake. Instead of baking it in a tube pan, I used a small sheet pan and cut out the layers. This style of cake building was made popular by Christina Tosi at Momofuku Milk Bar. I recommend her book if you have a major sweet tooth.
I used this angel food cake batter recipe from Epicurious…
Instead of the toppings in the recipe, I made a chocolate ganache using Marou Chocolate. I also layered it with raspberry jam and topped it with hand-rolled truffles and fresh raspberries.
Chocolate Cookie Madness
Finally, I made 3 incredible cookie recipes for a chocolate cookie taste test. If you are planning to make cookies for the holidays; I highly recommend reading our taste test results.
That is the craziness that has been going on in The Blenderist kitchen. If you’ve been baking, be sure to share your recent successes with me in the comments!
